Pasta has been and always will be one of my favorite foods. In fact, there was a time in my childhood when I could eat spaghetti and meat sauce pretty much every single day, (or twice a day if you let me). It was pretty inevitable for my son to love pasta as well.

So, when I heard about seaweed infused pasta and seasoning blends, my curiosity was peaked.

During my trip to the Natural Products Expo East conference this year, I was introduced to a company named Blue Evolution who is redefining the world of pasta as we know it by making seaweed the star ingredient.

Blue Evolution’s product line includes Rotini, Penne, Shells & Cheese (Gluten-Free and Non Gluten-Free), and their awesome Classic Marinara with Superfood Seaweed Seasoning Blend.

But, you are probably thinking “Why would I want seaweed in my pasta?”.

Believe it or not, seaweed is one of the most nutrient rich plants on the planet. With it being rich in iron, and a filled with vitamins and amino acids, seaweed is truthfully a resource we are missing out on.

Interested in knowing how one would use the one of Blue Evolution’s seaweed rich items? Don’t worry I will help you out.

Recently on my Instagram account (be sure to follow me @itsmeladyg), I shared a full cooking tutorial of my go-to Vegan Chunky Pasta Sauce featuring Blue Evolution’s Classic Marinara with Superfood Seaweed Seasoning Blend in my stories. Thankfully, IG recently released a highlight feature that saves specific videos of choice for as long as you choose, so it is still available there should you want to check it out. HOWEVER, I went the extra mile and also saved the video on my YouTube channel for easy access. Check it out below.

The seasoning blend is perfect for adding to lasagna, ziti, or any other pasta dish because it includes all of the usual Italian seasonings with the added twist of seaweed. I honestly can’t even taste the seaweed when I throw a pinch of the seasoning in my mouth. To me, I can only taste the delicious savory blend needed to round off a great dish.

This completely informal recipe can be made by using:

5-6 Cremini (Baby Bella) Mushrooms

3-4 Plum Tomatoes (Diced)

1/2 Large Yellow Onion (Diced)

Palmful of Fresh Basil (Optional)

1 Large Green Pepper (Add More If You’d Like)

1 Large Red Bell Pepper (Add More If You’d Like)

2-3 cloves of Garlic (Add More if You’d Like)

1 Tbs Olive Oil

1- 1.5 Tbs of Water

1 Jar of Your Favorite Marinara Sauce or Tomato Sauce

3 Tbs Blue Evolution Classic Marinara Seasoning with Superfood Seaweed

Watch the video to get the play-by-play but this recipe is as easy as sauté the veggies, add the seasoning, and then add the jar of tomato sauce. It is so filling and is an easy way to incorporate the seaweed seasoning, even for the most picky of eaters. You can add or subtract any ingredient that fits your taste, but make sure the combo remains chunky to be satiating. My son ate the sauce and loved it.

Shells & Cheese

Blue Evolution’s Shells and Cheese is another great way to weave seaweed in your diet on a regular basis. It comes in both a gluten-free and non gluten-free version. It’s quick and easy to make as a snack, meal, or side.

Blue Evolution’s Shells and Cheese Pasta. The seaweed is the star in this dish.

It was genius of Blue Evolution to incorporate seaweed into a beloved classic. I can see why it’s a hit with the kids.
