Whole Foods Amazon 30 Minute Meal Kit Review

I’m going to say it, the days of the super popular weekly or monthly pre-measured 30 minute meal kits coming in the mail are coming to an end.

I’ve tried a few of them and even made a YouTube video unboxing one a couple years ago. In the end, I always end up canceling them because they end up being pretty pricey.

Let me back up and say, I like to cook and consider food prepping a form of meditation, so maybe I’m biased. But, I’m sure there are a ton of people who still love the convenience of these kits. So much so that Amazon and Whole Foods created a line of 30 minute meal kits that can be purchased in store and change monthly. Click here to get more general information about the kits.

A couple of weeks ago, I did an impromptu review on my Instagram account which can be viewed on my YouTube channel below. Keep reading below to check out my quick review of one their kits.

My Experience Using the Whole Foods Amazon Meal Kit:

I picked up a meal kit during one of my regular shopping trips. I try to generally stick to my staples when shopping at Whole Foods (click here to check out the 6 Grocery Products I Buy Twice A Week), but I splurged on this because it seemed fun and easy to master the one meal I have yet to master, FALAFELS!

As mentioned above, each month, there is are a selection of meals available but each week certain ones are available in store.

The ingredients were clean and fresh. Although they were all things I could easily find in my local store, the two hard to find stars of the kit (in my opinion were the falafel “mix” of seasonings and the sumac which was added to the cucumber salad.

The instructions were super easy to follow and were quick enough for me to do in a spare 10-15 minutes while the kids were occupied. Like most recipes, you will want to season the ingredients up or down with salt and pepper to taste.

In the end, my falafels came out great and did not fall apart in the pan like they have in the past. By the way, I’m still on the hunt for a foolproof falafel recipe, so keep me in mind if you find one.

I would definitely buy one of these kits again. They all come in under $20 and can feed two moderately hungry people OR one extremely hungry person with enough to put aside for lunch the next day.

If you aren’t near a Whole Foods, these kits can also be purchased online here through the Amazon Fresh program. Amazon Fresh is a grocery delivery program that you can opt in for a small fee. This is a monthly fee you pay on top of the Amazon Prime fee of $14.99 per month.

However, if you are new to Amazon Fresh but already an Amazon Prime Member, you can try it for free for 30 days. Click here for more information.

Let me know if you’ve ever tried one of these meal kits and what your thoughts were in the comments below.
