Lemon Balm Tea For Stress: What you Should Know

Share Button

If you’re like me, you might have started to get a little ansty and anxious with everything going on lately.

It’s a lot. And please don’t let anyone tell you differently.

So, I’ve been trying to go back to my mental and content archives to see what natural and accessible approaches might be available to keep on my radar during my essential grocery runs.

Thankfully, I did not have to think back too far to get an answer.

During the episode of my women’s wellness podcast What In The Wellness With Tiffany where I interviewed Taylor Johnson-Gordon: Herbalist, Certified Health Coach, and founder of Sistah of The Yam, LLC, I asked her for some suggestions for herbs for stress. In each episode, I try to ask the guest for a wellness based takeaway that listeners can start to implement into their lives right away.

In this episode, she suggested Lemon Balm as an herb known to help with stress. Of course, it’s always best to consult with your medical professional or herbalist before starting a new regimen. Please feel free to contact Taylor through her website.

However, Lemon Balm is an herb that can be found at just about every grocery store nowadays. In fact, it is also sold at garden centers and even home improvement stores with nurseries.

According to WebMd:

Lemon balm contains chemicals that seem to have a sedative, calming effect. It might also reduce the growth of some viruses.

In addition, on the Mountain Rose Herbs’ website where they have a directory for herbs, they share:

Used since ancient times to calm the heart and the body, lemon balm with its delicate lemony flavor uplifts the spirit and any culinary dish it is added to. It has been used to sweeten jam, jellies, as an addition to salad, and as a flavoring for various fish and poultry dishes and liqueurs. Further, lemon balm is used for making perfumes, in cosmetics, and in furniture polish manufacturing. It is often found as a tea in combination with other relaxing herbs such as valerian, as an essential oil, and also in ointments for topical applications.

WHERE CAN I FIND LEMON BALM?

As mentioned, Lemon Balm tea can be found at a lot of stores that are still deemed essential.

But what if you can’t get out the house?

Here are a couple of Lemon Balm tea (loose leaf or in individual packages) options that can be sent directly to you:

#1 Traditional Medicinals

This is the tea I current have at home. It is available in stores such as Whole Foods and local grocery stores with an herbal tea section. It can also be purchased on Amazon. Click here to see it on Amazon.

#2 Alvita Organic Tea

Alvin is another brand I’ve come to trust over the years. They are not always found in stores besides hardcore health food stores and food co-ops, but it’s in my top list of brands when it comes to herbal teas. Click here to see it on Amazon.

#3 Mountain Rose Herbs

Mountain Rose Herbs is a site that’s well known within the wellness world. Just about everybody orders something amazing from here. Their variety and ability to offer both bulk and smaller orders of high quality herbs and other products is almost unmatched.

They offer loose leaf dried Lemon Balm in various quantities which can be sent right to your house.

If you are new to the loose leaf tea game, I highly suggest you explore all the options available to you outside the teabag.

However, if you do order loose leaf tea, you will need a tea infuser or a tea infuser pot like the one below for larger amounts of tea. Plus it’s pretty darn cute.
