The Newborn Baby Shopping List I Wish I Had As A First Time Mom

Share Button

Figuring out what things you need for a newborn can be an overwhelming task. Stores like Target and Buy Buy Baby are great at giving you suggestions which are helpful as a first time mom.

As a mom of 2 with almost 9 years between them, I truly felt like I hit the reset button when shopping the second time around. However, I was able to remember the most essential things a newborn needs.

Nonetheless, I stumbled onto some really amazing natural and organic brands and products that I’m excited to share with you. I had many of these on my personal newborn baby shopping list.

HERE ARE 22 OF MY FAVORITE BABY PRODUCTS:

1. Earth & Eden Disposable Diapers (Amazon Exclusive)

I did a full review about them in video form here and also in a blog post here. We still use them to this day because they check the most items off my list. Click HERE to see the actual diapers on Amazon.

2. Comotomo Silicone Bottles

While I did breastfeed, I loved these bottles for pumped milk. They are super soft and silicone. The parts that are plastic include the nipple ring (the colored part) and the cover. I tried to avoid heating those parts as much as possible even though the plastic is BPA free.

I did a video review here, and a blog review here.

These are available at:
BUY BUY BABY

Amazon

Target

3.Mum & You Compostable Wipes

These are one of my most recent finds, but we are certainly loving them. They are a great way to do right for the earth while keeping your little one clean and away from questionable toxins. I spoke about them on my Instagram account here.

4. Spectra S1 Breast Pump

I opted for this breast pump after reading this review. It was awesome because it is rechargeable. Be sure to get extra membranes and duckbills because suction decreases as they become worn. I speak with Tamiqua, a Certified Lactation Counselor & Owner of Latching In Love, LLCabout nursing tips in this video.

This is available on Amazon here.

5. Papablic Baby Bottle Electric Steamer & Sanitizer

I did a video review of the product with demo here. I loved that it also dried the bottles and doubled as storage too.

It is available on Amazon

6. Owlet Smart Sock

This was a splurge, but it did bring peace of mind during the first couple of months of my daughter being home. I did a video review here

They have a newer more expensive version here, but this was the one I purchased (available at Target)

7. Ubbi Diaper Pail

This is one of the few baby items I never officially did a review of, although we absolutely loved it. Unlike other diaper pails that require you to purchase special bags, you can use regular kitchen bags for this one. It is a bit more expensive on the front end, but it is so worth it.

This is available at:
Amazon

Pottery Barn

Target

Nordstrom

8. Yazzy Boa Changing Pad

This is another find we loved later than I should’ve. This super cute and affordable changing pad has all the bells and whistles of a more expensive brands. We still use it to this day.

This is available on Amazon.

9. Earth Mama Organics Diaper Balm

OMG! We literally put this balm ALL OVER and it is like magic. Anytime any of us have a slight rash or skin irritation, this clears it up almost overnight. And, oh yeah it does great in the diaper area too. 🙂

This is available at Target, but I order it from Thrive Market at a discount.

I usually order 4 at a time to justify the shipping. If you check out Thrive Market through the link provided, you will get a 30 day membership for free.  Thrive Market is a great place to score discounted natural and organic shelf stable foods and goods.

10. Motherhood Maternity Side Zip Sweatshirt

This super comfy sweatshirt looks simple, but it is genius because it has a side zip for easy nursing. I did a video review here.

Click here to check the sweatshirt out.

11. Branch Basics Cleaning Starter Kit

With a little one around, it’s important to choose non-toxic cleaning products that are still effective. Branch Basics is consistently one of the cleanest labeled cleaning systems on the market. It is super easy to use and I did a quick demo in this video

You can get the kit by clicking here.

12. Ora’s Amazing Herbal Newborn Salve

This is another diaper balm favorite in my house. It is EWG verified so the ingredients are super clean. In addition, the jar is glass which helps for those trying to stay away from plastic. I did a blog post on it here.

Click here to check it out on Amazon.

13. Contours Bitsy Travel Stroller

As my little one started to get bigger, I decided to get this stroller for everyday use. It’s so light and awesome to throw in the trunk without it taking up too much space.
Check it out on Amazon here.

14. Chicco Shuttle Stroller

This is a great accessory for the Chicco Key Fit Infant Car Seat. It was great because it folds down small and so easily with one hand.

15. Chicco Key Fit Car Seat

This is a top ranking car seat year after year. I actually used this same version of seat with my son over 9 years ago.

This can be purchased at:
Amazon

16. Stretchy Infant Car Seat Cover

This soft fleece lined cover was perfect for the winter time. It is a very inexpensive option that’s cute at the same time.

17. Rearview Car Seat Mirror

A must when you’re driving alone with your little one.

Check this out on Amazon

18. First Year’s Bottle Warmer

This affordable baby warmer was the best for both of our kids. We have purchased them for friends and weren’t too upset when we left them in hotel rooms by accident when traveling.

Check it out on Amazon here.

19. Snuggle Me Organic Lounger

This lounger was a lifesaver when my daughter first came home. She loved to take naps in it and I love that it was made with such high quality ingredients.

Check it out at Amazon here

20. Frida Baby Nose Aspirator

This little contraption is so great for those little stuffy and runny noses. It took a little practice, but it was surely the most effective natural option in addition to using a humidifier

Check it out at Amazon

21. My Serenity Baby Food

My Serenity is a line of high quality, organic, and pasture raised food purees. While I try to stay away from food stored in plastic or plastic lined containers and try to make as many foods as possible at home, life happens. Sometimes the family schedule is crazy, and a HANGRY baby is nobody’s favorite.

These are the only pouches we currently use in these circumstances because of their commitment to quality.

Also, they do not use sugary fruits to mask the taste of the veggies. This makes it easier for your little one to get used to the glorious taste of veggies.

Click here to get your own. Use code ITSMELADYG for 15% off your first order.

22. Baby Tula Carriers

This super trendy line of carriers are a bit of a splurge, but I believe they are worth it. I’ve use a couple of them during hour long trips with the little one and they have saved my back. I am still using the Explore with my toddler on those super clingy days.

The entire line is available on:
Amazon
